The Whipp and Bourne 11kV CV switchgear, 3 phase type was subjected to a 6 yearly service examination and medium voltage test – the purpose of the test was to prove that the bottles which are located in the lower part of the switchgear would pass 1kV and 5kV Megger tests, (lowest reading permissible being 100M Ohms) using a Fluke tester.

Bottles can be tested by going from front side, to earth, also, at either end of the bottle to prove there is no leakage. All 3 phases passed the test with >3T Ohms and returned to immediate service.
