Approved Stockist Agreement
Today, we have entered into an Approved Stockist Agreement with SEB International, the world market-leading Cable Laying Equipment manufacturer.
Thorne & Derrick have partnered with SEB to service the Power Transmission & Distribution industry in wind, solar, rail, oil/gas, data centre, battery storage and utility sectors.
“Traditionally, our core business has been the supply of High Voltage Jointing & Termination Products from stock up to 66kV – as a Specialist Distributor we now have an enhanced commercial strength and added-value service to support projects at the cable laying stage. This includes rollers, socks, jacks, winches and trailers to enable cables, umbilicals or pipes to be installed into ducts, trenches and tunnels.

Complete range of Cable Jacks and towers with spindle bars for drum lifting up to 40 tonnes using screw or hydraulic jack types – the jacks provide control and stability for LV-HV cable drums during cable pulling up to 33kV and EHV. All cable jacks and spindles shall be checked to ensure that they are in good condition and of the appropriate size for the weight of the drum and cable to be installed.

Cable rollers are used to support and guide LV, MV & HV cables into open trenches without damaging cable sheaths and incurring overbending stresses on power cables, typically at LV (1000 volts), MV (11kV/33kV), HV (66kV) and EHV (132kV-400kV) voltages.

Thorne & Derrick have supplied a Cable Winch requirement to a leading provider of offshore power distribution, to the renewable and oil/gas sectors.
The refurbished and customised 5 tonne cable winch was customised to enable the pull and installation of medium/high voltage power cables – the cable winch was delivered within 2 weeks from receipt of client order.
The cable winch modification was based on the standard SEB TW5000 version with additional cable tension dynamometer.
