3M LCT series of Cold Shrink Cable Termination Kits are suitable for terminating unscreened 3 Core XLPE 1.9kV/3.3kV power cables with SWA (steel wire armour) to BS5467 with cross sectional area of 35-400sqmm.

Also suitable to terminate marine and offshore EPR insulated cable according to BS6883 with galvanised wire braid to provide power to emergency lighting units, shut down control systems, gas detectors, alarm systems, fire pump systems, social areas, control rooms, computer suites and accommodation modules.

3M Cold Shrink LCT Series Terminations use Cold Shrink technology which eliminates the need for cable jointing resins or heat shrink torch tools to ensure a quick, simple and reliable cable installation.

The wire armour or wire braid is required to be cable glanded separately – in offshore locations including hazardous area Zone 1, Zone 2, Zone 21, Zone 22 and in Gas Groups IIA, IIB where the cable must be terminated into an electrical enclosure/junction box the Hawke 501/453 type cable gland is specified to provide effective wire armour termination.

How To Install 3M Cold Shrink Terminations – LCT Range Up To 3.3kV

➡ Cold Shrink low voltage terminations utilising tool-free cold applied technology provides a safe alternative to heat shrink based alternatives – the Cold Shrink break-out boot seals the cable crutch area of the 3 core cable. The cable lugs are overtaped with Scotch 23 tape to seal, insulate and protect the connection against moisture ingress into the cable conductors. The Cold Shrink tube can be trimmed to length to suit the required cable core tail length.

Stranded copper conductors can be effectively terminated using either Cembre crimp connectors and associated crimping tools or shearbolt cable lugs.
