Straight Cable Joints MV for 11kV 33kV Cables

Lovink LoviSil® Straight Through Cable Joint | MV 6/10 (12) kV – 18/30 (36) kV

Product Code: LoviSil® Straight Joint (Module Selection Required)

Lovink LoviSil® Straight Cable Joint is designed for medium voltage (MV) cable-to-cable connections on polymeric cables (XLPE/EPR) or paper-insulated cables (PILC/PICAS) from 6/10 (12) kV up to 18/30 (36) kV. The LoviSil® straight joint platform supports multiple MV cable constructions including 1-core and 3-core, a wide range of armour types, and conductor sizes up to 1,000 mm² (subject to module selection and cable dimensions). For MV systems commonly referenced as 11kV and 33kV class, the correct straight cable joint configuration is confirmed by the cable ratings, screens/sheaths and physical build.
MV Joints for Straight Cable Connections XLPE – PILC
The Lovink LoviSil® Straight Cable Joint is built for reliable inline cable connections on medium voltage circuits where the cable type is consistent across the joint (polymeric-to-polymeric or paper-to-paper). This makes it a practical option for planned MV
cable jointing work, renewals, repairs and re-terminations where conductor sizes, screens and armours vary across projects.
Lovink LoviSil
Lovink LoviSil® straight joints are suitable for a broad set of MV cable designs including 1-core, 3-core and 3 × 1-core configurations, plus a range of armour constructions and cross-sections. Where cable builds are uncommon, bespoke cable modules may be available to
support the correct fit and electrical performance.
6/10 (12) kV – 18/30 (36) kV Cables
Designed for MV networks up to 36 kV, LoviSil® straight cable joints cover cable system ratings from 6/10 (12) kV to 18/30 (36) kV. For distribution systems commonly referred to as 11kV and 33kV class, selection is completed using the correct cable ratings and dimensions to match module size, screens/sheaths and installation requirements.
Need the right Straight Cable Joint for your MV cables? Share your cable data (voltage class, insulation type, conductor size, screen/sheath, armour and key diameters) and we’ll support the correct module selection for your 11kV / 33kV class project.

Straight Through Cable Joint – Additional Information
LoviSil® MV cable joints use fluid silicone (liquid insulation) as the primary insulation medium. Unlike shrink or push-on approaches,
the silicone remains liquid, enabling it to flow into and fill potential voids within the joint. This supports stable electrical insulation and
helps minimise partial discharges associated with air entrapment. In contact with water or humid air, an insulating rubber is formed, and
under fault conditions the system is stated to produce no carbon traces.
For 36 kV class jointing, LoviSil® joints can include geometric field control via filled stress cones. Combined with a silicone sleeve
around the connection, this delivers controlled field distribution without the need for wrapping, supporting a compact MV joint design.
✔ Reliable insulation environment: fluid silicone supports primary insulation and fills voids to reduce electrical stress points
✔ Polymeric & paper suitability: the silicone-based system is stated as suitable for both polymeric and paper-insulated MV cables
✔ Logistical benefits: modular system helps reduce stock holding required across many MV cable designs
✔ Easy installation: intuitive sequence, pre-mounted parts, and visual control / filling indication
✔ Flame-free approach: no soldering or shrinking stated, supporting petrochemical and mining requirements where flame-free installation is often preferred
