Stop-End Joints MV | 11kv 33kV

Lovink LoviSil® STOP-END JOINTS | MV 6/10 (11) kV – 18/30 (33) kV

Product Code: LoviSil® Stop-End Joint (Module Selection Required)

Lovink LoviSil® Stop-End Joint is engineered for medium voltage (MV) cable terminations, converting a standard LoviSil® joint into a fully insulated and sealed pot-end for energized cable systems. It is suitable for polymeric (XLPE/EPR) and selected paper-insulated cables across voltage classes from 6/10 (12) kV up to 18/30 (36) kV.
Designed for use at the end of cable routes or when circuits are partially or permanently taken out of service, the LoviSil® Stop-End Joint provides long-term electrical insulation, mechanical protection, and moisture sealing in underground and substation environments. It supports a wide range of single-core MV cable sizes up to 1,000 mm² (dependent on module selection). For distribution networks commonly referred to as 11kV and 33kV class, the correct configuration is selected based on system voltage and cable dimensions.
Medium voltage joining kits
The Lovink LoviSil® Stop-End Joint is a purpose-designed medium voltage solution for safely terminating underground power cables. By integrating a dedicated stop-end module, a standard LoviSil® joint is converted into a fully insulated and sealed pot-end, allowing cable ends to remain energized and protected in long-term service.
LoviSil® Modular Technology
The LoviSil® system is built around a proven modular design, combining base, cable, resin, and stop-end modules to suit a wide range of network requirements. Pre-assembled components and a uniform installation method help ensure consistent performance on-site, while the encapsulated construction using polyurethane resin and silicone insulation delivers excellent resistance to moisture ingress, soil contamination, and mechanical stress. Installation is completed using standard tools, without heat shrinking or soldering processes.
Designed for 6/10 (12) kV – 18/30 (36) kV Networks
Developed for modern distribution and industrial power systems, the LoviSil® Stop-End Joint is suitable for medium voltage installations from 6/10 (12) kV to 18/30 (36) kV. It supports a broad range of single-core polymeric and selected paper-insulated cables, with conductor sizes up to 1,000 mm² depending on module selection. This makes it an ideal termination solution for spare feeders, decommissioned circuits, and future network extensions in 11kV and 33kV systems.

STOP-END JOINT – Additional Information
LoviSil® Stop-End Joints for medium voltage cable systems (commonly referred to as 11kV and 33kV class networks) use liquid silicone insulation as the primary dielectric medium. This fluid insulation flows freely within the sealed termination body, enabling it to fully surround conductors, screens, and connection components. By eliminating trapped air pockets, the system supports stable electrical performance and helps reduce the risk of partial discharge activity during long-term service.
When terminating paper-insulated cables (PILC/PICAS), the silicone compound provides a compatible environment similar to traditional impregnants, helping maintain insulation integrity over time. For XLPE and EPR cables, the electrical properties of the liquid insulation allow controlled stress distribution and reduce reliance on complex taping or multi-layer build-ups, subject to correct system selection.
✔ Stable electrical termination: liquid silicone insulation supports consistent dielectric performance at the cable end
✔ Paper cable compatibility: silicone characteristics help preserve PILC/PICAS insulation properties
✔ Modern polymer support: suitable for XLPE and EPR cables with reduced build-up complexity
✔ Long service life: proven materials and sealing concept support extended operational reliability
✔ Installer-friendly design: clear assembly sequence and transparent components assist visual inspection
✔ Flame-free installation: no heating, shrinking, or soldering required, supporting high-risk and restricted environments
