North Sea Link Interconnector Project

This is the first Blog in a series by Nexans explaining how their subsea solutions are helping to meet global demand.

The North Sea Link Interconnector project is a huge and ambitious project that involves cooperation, innovation, engineering, and lots of planning. This summer, Nexans began the major installation operations in Western Norway.

The Nexans’ land high voltage cables arrived for the North Sea Link project in Halden.

Nexans have been awarded a turnkey project covering 2x250km of 525kV HVDC subsea and land cables.

This interconnector link will be the longest subsea electricity link in the world. In the below video the five high voltage cables will be installed at the Kvilldal converter station.

Due to the logistics of this complex project the land cables must be transported first.

The vessel will now travel to the town of Sand in the western part of Norway to unload the cables.
