The REPL RCFB Flexible Insulating Bushing Boot Kit is a cold-applied insulation system developed for medium voltage cable terminations installed in switchgear, transformers and other dry-air-filled cable boxes. The flexible elastomeric boot covers the cable termination-to-equipment bushing connection, increasing insulation where phase-to-phase or phase-to-earth air clearances are restricted.
RCFB insulating boots are particularly useful where electrical flashover may otherwise be encouraged by environmental conditions such as high humidity or contamination. The highly insulating anti-track material provides strong electrical and weathering performance for a durable installation, while the flexible construction allows the same boot design to accommodate either straight or right-angle connections.
The system is suitable for use over standard heat shrink and cold shrink MV cable terminations. No special tooling is required for installation and the boots can be removed when access to the bushing connection is required for testing, then reinstalled afterwards.
