Ripley WS 1 – Operating Instructions
- Stripper is held in shotgun and latch handle hooked over cable. A downward motion of shotgun will now lock tool in an open position. Or tool can be locked open before placing in shotgun (Fig.1)
- Stripper is now placed over cable and again, a downward movement (A) of shotgun will release latch. An upward motion (B) of shotgun will then allow stripper to lock in a closed position – note direction of arrow. This is the direction in which the tool will move during the next operation (Fig.2)
- Remove shotgun and proceed to rotate stripper in a clockwise direction (when viewed from the knife edge) with hotstick until the desired length of conductor is stripped. To cut off insulation, hold back with hotstick while rotating tool to counteract normal advance of tool (Fig.3)
- To remove tool, grasp with shot gun and lock latch open with hotstick. Lift stripper off cable with shotgun. The setting of the cutting blade can be varied with the Cutting Blade can be varied with the Blade Adjusting Screw, located under the cutting end of the blade
- Blade Replacement:
CB-1 for insulation .125” to .200” thick
CB-2 for insulation under .125” thick
CB8-2A and CB-19 for WSK2 series

Tree Wire Cables
Tree wire or covered open wire consists of the conductor (aluminium, aluminium alloy or ACSR ) and the extruded covering (conductor shield, low density inner layer and protective outer layer).
Tree Wire cable is used for spans where trees impair the right-of-way, this includes wooded residential areas, when a minimum of interference with the environment is desired.
Covering minimises power outages due to conductor contact with tree limbs, reducing the need for frequent or severe trimming.
