Panduit working with Thorne & Derrick, their solution for electric heat trace cable installation utilizes the Panduit Heat Trace Wave-TyTM as a part of the installation process.
Panduit’s Heat Trace Solution is for use in the installation of Mineral Insulated Electric Heat Trace (MIEHT) and eliminates some of the key problems with tie wire, mainly safety concerns and damaging of the MIEHT.
By using electric heat trace ties specifically sized for common industrial pipes, this approach allows the installer to quickly and safely install EHT in about one third of the time as typical tie wire.

Panduit Heat Trace Wave Ty makes installation of electrical heat trace quicker and easier and significantly reduces the risk of injury due to puncture and repetitive motion.
Suitable for the following applications:
Primary application for mineral insulated heat trace is process temperature maintenance & freeze protection commonly installed with tie wire.
Panduit heat trave Wave Ty is faster to install by 2-3x than conventional tie wire.
Wave Ty has several key safety features rounded edges, recessed cut off and no exposed cut off (no hazards). Also no twisting or pulling which reduces the risk of RSI & CTS injury.
Installation tools include Panduit ST4MT, ST2MT & RT2HT.
Panduit ST4MT – new installation tool specifically designed for heat trace Wave Ty with a built in cutting lever for recessed cut off.
Panduit ST2MT – installation tool is used with standard extra heavy ty with manual tensioning controlled by the operator and uses a twist cut mechanism.
Panduit RT2HT – manual installation tool with side entry and feeding making it suitable for use with the extra heavy wave ty.
The heat trace Wave Ty packaging makes the product easy to handle and reduces the amount of waste on site.

Brendan Hass, Product Manager of Grounding & Bonding Solutions at Panduit describes the dangers of an exothermic welding systems and says that they are often overlooked due to complacency or lack of education about the direct burial process. At Panduit have specifically engineered structured ground lines to increase installation efficiency, connection reliability and job site safety.
Exothermic systems are both physically and logistically awkward to use as the moulds can only be used with a specific connection type and often the complexity of the project increases the amount and types of moulds required. The versatility and wide range of capabilities of the Panduit Compression System allow for easy use and maintenance.
The efficiency has also been tested installing 4 times faster than exothermic, no delays due to hot work permits or inclement weather and the cable tie turns a 2 man job into a 1 man job. The most common concern about compression is the reliability. Panduit Compression has gone through rigorous testing including IEEE standard 837, MIL-STD-202G and patented anti-oxidant compound.
