T&D distribute the complete range of Earth Tapes manufactured from high conductivity copper by AN Wallis in an extensive range of widths and thicknesses from 12.5 x 1.5mm (18.75sqmm C.S.A. Cross Section Area) to 50 x 8mm (400sqmm C.S.A.) – bare copper earthing tapes are available in a selection of coil sizes.

Bare copper tape earth conductors with fault current ratings according to BS7430 with an initial copper conductor temperature of 30°C and a maximum temperature of 250°C.

Copper Earth Tape

Flat bare copper earthing tapes are specified for above ground earthing conductors due to copper theft risk of insecure stranded copper conductors – a complete range of earth bars, connector joints, fixing clips and clamps for connecting conductor tape to copper earth rods.

HV EHV Earthing Of Substations

Bare copper earth tapes protect 11kV-33kV substations containing high voltage circuit breakers, metering, telemetry and protection equipment.

Earthing tapes for grid and primary substations and switchroom connections (11kV, 33kV, 66kV, 132kV) including both HOT and COLD sites.

A COLD site is a grid, primary or secondary substation where the earth potential rise is less than 430V or 650V (for high reliability protection with a fault clearance time less than 200ms).

A HOT site is a grid, primary or secondary substation where the earth potential rise is greater than 430V or 650V.

Primary Substation – a MV-HV substation with 33kV operating voltage and may include transformers stepping down to 11kV, 6.6kV or 400V.

Secondary Substation – a MV-HV substation with an operating voltage of 11kV or 6.6kV and may include transformation to 400V (Low Voltage).

Metallic DC Clips For Use With Bare Copper Earth Tapes

Bare copper earth tapes can be secured and installed to buildings and substations using metallic DC clips – fixed using countersunk woodscrew 1 1/2″ x No.10 and No.10 wall plug.

Square Tape Earth Clamps For Use With Bare Copper Tapes

Four-way earth clamp connectors are used with copper earth tapes to achieve cross, straight through or tee joints in flat tape – the clamp base has a countersunk hole in the middle for securing the clamp to the building surface and the lid is fixed by means of four screws. Clamps are fixed using countersunk woodscrew 1 1/2″ x No.10 and No.10 wall plug.

Code Of Practice For Protective Earthing Of Electrical Installations

BS7430 standard covers earthing system design parameters for low voltage and high voltage structures, electrical equipment and systems. BS7430 has significant safety implications as effective earthing safeguards people from the risk of electric shock. To design, specify, inspect and periodically test and maintain earthing systems without endangering those who come into contact with them, users need to follow the guidelines and recommendations outlined in the amended 2015 version of the standard.
