The Jointers Gas Torch Kits are supplied in durable impact resistant carrying cases to protect and store all the components items safely when working in often challenging workplace locations such as cable trenches and substations – the heat shrink gas torches are also used to install cable repair sleeves for repairing sheath damage.

Medium & High Voltage Jointers Gas Torches

The below tables features all products in the heat shrink torch kit suitable for cable jointers heating tasks carried out by LV HV cable jointers – each gas flame torch includes a 4 metre long high-pressure hose, regulator, 38mm and 50mm gas burner head ideal for shrinking joints and terminations manufactured from heat shrink components and tubings.

To avoid over-heating and blister damage to the heat shrink tubes, joints and terminations the following should be observed:

  • Ensure heat shrink gas torch is used in well ventilated locationsHeat Shrink Gas Torch
  • Adjust the gas torch to obtain a soft blue flame with a yellow tip
  • Pencil-like blue flames should be avoided when jointing and terminating cables
  • Keep the gas torch aimed in the shrink direction to preheat the tubings
  • Keep the flame moving continuously to avoid scorching the heat shrink material
  • Jointer should shrink the heat shrink tube at the position recommended in the installation instruction

Pictured Opposite – this photograph provided by a Jointer Training Centre shows a trainee undergoing the installation of MV Heat Shrink Terminations using an inadequate and unsuitable gas torch. The intensity and localised overheating generated by the gas torch to the semicon heat shrink tube is clearly visible – notice the surface damage to the black heat shrink tubes, the “blistering” and “bubbling” effect will overtime cause cable terminations to fail if correct heat shrink heating tools are not used by the Jointer.

Soft flame burner
717431 5mm high pressure hose 10m fixed and swivel Sievert high pressure hoses conforms to the EN 559/ISO 3821 standards. Sievert hoses are also extra frost resistant and can be used in temperatures down to -30°C. The Sievert hose is designed with an inner layer of black gas resistant rubber, a middle layer of reinforcing weave to withstand high pressure and an outer orange coloured layer to protect against external damage, sunlight and ozone.
