400kV High Voltage Power Cable
The Link Box Series manufactured by PD Devices Ltd is designed for use in 400kV power distribution systems and feature a Sheath Voltage Limiter (SVL45-DNB) to provide reliable voltage limitation. This is necessary in situations where lightning faults or switching operations may cause overvoltage stresses on the cable’s armoured sheath. The internal design allows for easy access during field testing.
The HV link boxes are constructed from durable 3mm thick Grade 316 Stainless Steel. A 3mm thick EPDM rubber gasket ensures effective protection of the internal components when the lid is securely bolted in place. The lid is also lockable to enhance safety and security.
There are three variants:

LB19/28OD55: Includes Link Bars for cross-bonding. Suitable for incoming 55mm outside diameter Link Cables.

LB21/28OD37: No Link Bars, with each phase link cable conductor connected directly to an individual SVL45-DNB. Suitable for incoming 37mm outside diameter Link Cables.

LB21/28OD55: No Link Bars, with each phase link cable conductor connected directly to an individual SVL45-DNB. Suitable for incoming 55mm outside diameter Link Cables.
The surge protection components are identical across all variants. It is recommended to use a poured insulating compound at the point where the Link Cables are secured to ensure both electrical and environmental protection. Fill level markers will indicate the recommended fill depths, with Guroflex MV being a suitable compound for this purpose.

Sheath Voltage Limiters SVL45-DNB
The Link Box Series SVL Part Code SVL45-DNB has a reference voltage (Uref) greater than 6000Vdc at 5mA. The residual voltage at 10kA with a 8/20µs impulse is less than 11.5kV.
