The Vicera cable sanding tool is designed for use with cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and rubber (EPR) insulated medium and high voltage power cables – the lightweight sanding machine is used to super-smooth the transition of the cable insulation and semiconducting screen.

The economical mechanised tool guarantees significant labour productivity gains are achieved compared to manual sanding using conventional abrasive grit rolls – the highest quality smooth surface finish is achieved by the Jointer delivering significant reductions in RSI associated with intensive and repeated use of the Jointers shoulders, elbows, forearms, wrists or hands. In 2023, a total of 5.4 million working days were lost in sick leave due to RSI in the UK.

The Jointer can simply adjust the speed of the drill, use different grain-grade sanding belts and if the Jointer pushes the sanding belt too hard it will stop spinning before sanding excess cable insulation due to the design of the traction rollers – the cable sander is typically used to improve power cable reliability on 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and up to 132kV networks.

The sanding tool has an integral dust extractor connection avoiding the widespread dispersal of atmospheric dust reducing Health & Safety risks associated with insulation dust inhalation.

CST sanding machine has an industry standard 10mm attachment shaft for the electric drills adjustable socket.
