GRC CABLE TROUGH

Network Rail PADS Appproved Elevated & Trackside Cable Trough Systems

GRC cable trough and elevated cable trough from BCM are manufactured from glassfibre reinforced concrete (GRC) and are installed at trackside ground level, over bridges and through rail tunnels.

The new lightweight design cable trough and elevated channel overcomes E&P and S&T security and safety issues, including finger trapping, lid “popping” and cable troughs dropping between support posts. With the incorporation of stainless steel connectors and a unique cover fastener, BCM have created a system which is secure and easy to install with greater tolerances for the site installation team.

GRC PADS approved cable trough provides reliable support and protection to LV-MV power, signalling and communications cables and is available in standard Network Rail sizes with an internal width up to 380mm and internal depth up to 300mm to accommodate a range of cable configurations.

BCM GRC cable trough and channel system includes radiused bends, channels, lids, stakes, brackets, height and direction changes, T pieces and joint boxes. This allows for continuous cable runs to be installed in elevated locations such as bridges, tunnels, embankments or around trackside installations.

Installation of GRC Elevated Cable Troughing
  • Insert GRC isolator between stainless steel connector and galvanised post bracket
  • Slide end of the first channel onto the channel connector
  • Ensure holes in channel and connector line up and secure with nuts, bolts, washers
  • Slide the end of the second channel onto the channel connector
  • Ensure holes in channel and connector line up and secure with nuts, bolts, washers
  • Slide first cable trough lid into position
  • Introduce lid lock under lid and locate under connector
  • Slide second cable trough lid into place under the lid lock until both lids meet
  • Tighten lid lock with appropriate tool
