Resin Cable Joint

3M 92-NA-6U Scotchcast hazardous area resin cable joints are used to straight joint, splice or connect single core and multi-core unarmoured cables with XLPE insulation and core conductors 150sqmm-240sqmm.

Where no “hot-working” is permitted in hazardous areas and potentially explosive atmospheres but hydrocarbon resistant resin cable joints are not required, we can recommend Cold Shrink type cable joints for cable connections, joints or repairs.

3M 92-NA-6U is an inline or straight cable joint kit with 1402FR resin for hazardous area locations manufactured by 3M Electrical  – the Scotchcast cable joint is designed for use with onshore and offshore power cables with flame retardant, hydrocarbon resistant and halogen free specification.

3M Scotchcast 1402FR Resin

Scotchcast 1402FR resin is specified for jointing offshore and marine cables – the resin is flame retardant and zero halogen preserving the circuit and cable integrity of offshore electrical systems where IEC60332-3-22 Category A (reduced propagation) zero halogen and outer sheath cable types SHF1 to IEC60092-359 are installed.

Marine Cable Joints

Marine cables and joints are designed to perform in extremes of temperatures, both high and low, and to be resistant to adverse elements such as humidity, oil, acid, muds and salt water, as are prevalent in most marine and offshore operational environments. They are manufactured in accordance with a number of British Standards, including BS6883 (fixed wiring in ships, and on mobile and fixed offshore units), BS7655 (insulation and sheathing materials for ships’ wiring and offshore applications), and BS7917 (fire resistant cables for fixed wiring in ships and on mobile and fixed offshore units).
