PADS Network Rail Approved for Medium Voltage Power Systems

3M 95-AC645-1-400/C uses innovative Cold Shrink Technology combined with Network Rail (NR) and PADS Approval to meet the requirements for the installation on medium voltage electrical infrastructure – forming part of rail cable joints & terminations range by 3M Electrical.

3M QSIII Cold Shrink Series Kits are designed for inline splicing up to 52kV Umax voltage class, Single core polymeric power cable systems with copper wire screen according to IEC60840.

95-AC645-1-400/C kit includes the Cold Shrink QSIII Silicone Splice Body with integrated stress control device, conductive electrode, silicone elastomeric insulation and outer semi-conductive layer.

Also included are Copper Screen sleeve, Constant Force springs for metallic screen, mechanical connector, and thick walled EPDM rubber Cold Shrink outer tubes to re- build the cable outer jacket.

Mechanical phase connectors are included. Armour connection components are also included where appropriate; please refer to selection table below.

Product Features

The versatile design of the prefabricated one-piece cold shrink termination body allows installation on a wide range of cable sizes and types and a fast and easy installation at temperatures ranging from – 20°C to + 50°C
No heat or flame is needed during installation – terminations are cold-applied without resort to heat shrink gas torch working
Solderless earth connection using Constant Force springs
No special jointing tools needed during installation

Installation of Medium Voltage Joint

3M Cold Shrink technology ensures quick, easy and safe installation of the QSIII Splice Body and outer protection tubes by pulling and unwinding the plastic support core in counter clockwise direction. Use of special tools is not necessary.
Detailed instructions for installing the 3M QSIII Series Inline Joints are included in each kit.

Cable Joint Storage

The shelf life of 3M QSIII Series Inline Joints is specified as 3 years. Temperature: – 40°C to +50°C.

Performance Tests

3M QSIII Inline Joint Series meets and exceeds the requirements of the European standard IEC60840. See Test Reports CR5477 and D1310-0E.
