Heat Shrink Terminations & Installation
Appropriate cable jointing tools should always be used when installing heat shrink terminations – use tools to ensure the removal of the semi-conductive screen to provide a reliable discharge free termination screen point.
Jointers should use propane type heat shrink gas torches with soft flame and avoid pencil like blue flames which are caused by unregulated heat supply and can cause burning or scorching to the heat shrink tubes.
Keep the flame on the move to ensure even shrinkage of the heat shrink shrink materials – allow termination to cool before applying mechanical strain.
