Preparing Cable & Gland For Installing Hawke 501/421
Cable Preparation

Allow sufficient length of cable, measurement II, to suit the electrical equipment. If required, install cable gland shroud. Pass cable through the cable gland as shown. If the equipment has a threaded entry, Hawke recommend screwing the cable gland into the equipment to prevent cable twisting after Step B.

Cable Gland Preparation

Unless already screwed into the electrical equipment, hold the entry (2) in position with a cable gland spanner/wrench to prevent cable rotation and tighten the backnut (1) until resistance is felt between the cable and seal. Then proceed to turn the back nut through a further half to one full turn to complete the inner seal. Locate the shroud over the cable gland where required. To ease wiring inside the equipment strip the cable outer sheath of the cable as shown.
