Designed for cable straightening and pre-installation heat treatment, the jackets help relieve locked-in mechanical stresses and reduce the cable’s tendency to recoil during preparation.
Suitable for 33kV, 66kV, 132kV and EHV cable installations, the cable heating jacket is wrapped around the cable and secured using adjustable side tethers. Used in conjunction with 2 metre aluminium cable straightening rails, the cable heating blanket provides durable heating performance for onshore and offshore cable installations.

Thorne & Derrick’s Cable Heating Blankets & Jackets are used to provide electric surface heating to the cable outersheath and XLPE insulation of medium voltage and high voltage power cables prior to the installation of joints, terminations and connectors. This controlled heating process is used to support MV HV cable straightening before connection work starts.
Cable Heating Jacket for 33kV 66kV 132kV & EHV Cable Installations
The cable heating jacket is wrapped around the cable and secured with side release buckles and adjustable tethers to place the heater into direct contact with the cable outer sheath. The jackets are used in conjunction with 2 metre aluminium cable straightening rails to retain and support the cable while heat is applied. This makes them suitable for 33kV, 66kV, 132kV and extra high voltage cable installations.

Cable Heating Jacket – Notes & Selection
The cable heating jacket provides a practical solution where a heat treatment process needs to be applied to each cable core to relieve the mechanical stresses locked into the cable insulation. This helps eliminate the behaviour inclination of the cable to recoil and allows easier physical cable manipulation and straightening by the HV jointer prior to installing joints, terminations and connectors.
Selection is based primarily on cable diameter and the required heated length. TD-HVJP-1 suits cable diameters from 60-89mm, while TD-HVJP-2 suits cable diameters from 90-120mm. For best results, the cable heating blanket should be used with suitable straightening rails and the correct cable jointing or termination procedure for the voltage class and installation environment.
