Lucy Zodion manufacture a wide range of products suitable to provide Low Voltage Electrical Power Distribution for EV charge points – from distribution network operator (DNO) accredited cut-outs and isolators for on-street chargers, to feeder pillars for electrical vehicle charging. The feeder pillar types are used for LV Power Connections to the electricity grid – these GRP models typically accommodate various LV power requirements including 100A single phase, 100A 3-phase and 200A 3-phase, 400A and 630A. EV charge points fall into four main categories according to the charge speed – fast, rapid and Ultra-rapid.
There are a number of electrical components required for each of these EV Charging Pillars depending on the specified charge speed.
The latest range of Lucy Zodion EV Charging solutions, the EVIS range, utilises the marketing leading Fortress street lighting pillars providing a modular solution for EV infrastructure that simplifies the installation process. The EVIS Pillar Range is designed to meet a wide range of application requirements from 100A – 630A for both Private Supply and New DNO Supplies, in both TT and PME earthing installations.
The EVIS range is available in several configurations designed to meet all onsite layouts, including those with a mix of EV Chargepoints. Outgoing devices include both single-phase and three-phase enabling EV Chargers to be powered, from 7kW – 50kW.

EV charging points rated as ‘Fast’ usually provide power from 7 kW up to 22 kW and can fully charge an Electric Vehicle in under 4 hours. Most often found in retail car parks or on-street where people generally have more time available for vehicle charging.
Common fast electrical power connectors are a tethered Type 1 or a Type 2 socket – these provide electrical charge via a connector cable which is supplied with the vehicle.

Current ‘Rapid’ AC chargers for electric vehicles are rated at 43kW, while ‘Rapid’ DC units are at least 50 kW.
Lucy Zodion EV supply pillars support both AC and DC charge points and have the scope to allow charging for the majority of electric vehicles up to 80% in up to 60 minutes (dependant on battery capacity).
Rapid AC devices use a tethered Type 2 connector. Rapid DC chargers are fitted with either a CCS, CHAdeMO or Tesla Type 2 connector.

Ultra-Rapid ev charging power supply feeder pillars
400A & 630A
Ultra-rapid EV charge points can provide up to 150kW of power. Ultra EV charging supply solutions from Lucy Zodion feed power to EV charge points at a maximum rated speed.
This allows electric vehicles which have the battery capacity, to have up to 80% of charge in approximately 30 minutes.

EV Charging & Connection at 600/100V and 11kV/33kV Substations
Where large-scale, multi-point EV Charging schemes are installed to support electric vehicle fleets it is often required to build and connect an 11kV or 33kV substation – depending upon the MVA (Megavolt-Amperes) required load and the charger layouts with kW capacity a dedicated 33kV HV Substation would need to be built and energised. The size of the required capacity determines whether an 11kV Connection is appropriate and a feed to the 33kV primary substation. LV cabling will then be pulled and laid underground to energise the EV Chargers according to the client specification.
