PICOUP 400 is a 2-in-1 hydraulic cable spiking and cable cutting tool used to check for and ensure the absence of voltage on low voltage, medium voltage and high voltage underground cables – this includes electrical power cables operating at LV, 11kV, 33kV, 66kV and 132kV.

After the spiking process is complete, the PICOUP 400 tool manufactured by PENTA and stocked in the UK by Thorne & Derrick can also be used to cut the cable up to a maximum diameter of Ø140mm.

The tool’s spiking feature allows the user to limit any resulting short circuit to a single-phase/ground fault, ensuring that protective devices will trip before creating a 2 or 3 phase fault.

This Spiking Tool offers total security to the user during application according to NFC 18510 standards.

The PICOUP 400 cable spiking and cutting tool is a vital tool for electricians and technicians working with LV MV HV underground cables.

PICOUP 400 FAQ’s

What are the calibration requirements, if any? No calibration is advised or required.
What are the service and maintenance requirements? Maintenance plan is detailed in the User Manual, as its lubrication etc rather than a full on service.
What warranty is included and are there any special notes to ensure we don’t breach the warranty requirements? Warranty is 12 months from date shipped by Thorne & Derrick. The only exemption on the warranty is cable size and specification – it cannot be outside of the approved range. Refer to User Manual and Data Sheet for further information or contact Thorne & Derrick.
