Working Guidelines for Safe Use of Voltage Detectors

It is imperative that the voltage of the installation to be checked should be within the voltage range indicated on the case of the voltage detector. The device must be used with an insulating pole whose properties are inappropriate for the voltage of the installation and the conditions of use. A reliable reading will be obtained;

If the device is far away as possible from any adjacent metallic objects (whether earthed or live) Avoid cable terminations, right-angled configurations and anti-corona rings (disturbance voltage presence)
If its axis is perpendicular as possible to the live line
If contact with the electric wire is made using the upper part of the contact electrode

In case of temporary use in rain, the detector should be cleaned beforehand with alcohol or detergent. Do not use the voltage detector if ice is present, wipe it if condensation forms.
