6.6kV cable termination kits using heat shrink technology are suitable for terminating medium/high voltage (MV-HV) single core polymeric cables (XLPE EPR)  – this includes cables with copper wire/tape screen and armoured (wire armoured/braided) or unarmoured cable for outdoor termination of 6.6kV cables, indoor version available.

Terminating HV Cables Outdoor

When terminating MV HV cables in outdoor locations anti-track heat shrink rain sheds should be installed from the bottom of the cable termination according to the jointing instructions issued with the kit – number of rain sheds depends on whether power cable is 6.6kV, 11kV, 33kV or other.

The cable jointer should avoid positioning the sheds at the top of the stress control tubes – the initial heat shrink rain shed should be fitted at a distance of 200mm from the lower edge of the anti-track tube to the edge of the heat shrink shed.

Reverse MV HV Connection

If the heat shrink terminations are to be mounted for connection above the switchgear or transformer in an outdoor location substation the heat shrink sheds should be installed in the reverse position rotated through 180 degrees – consult the termination kit instructions.
