Transition Cable Joints
Nexans GTM3.1 type MV cable joints are transition cable joints using heat shrink technology for jointing three core paper cables (PILC draining and non-draining) to three core polymeric cables (XLPE). Nexan’s GTM3.1 heat shrink cable joints are designed for use with paper insulated belted or screened cables with a common lead sheath and are fully screened, submersible and can be directly buried into cable trench.
Nexans cable jointsare available in both heat shrink and cold shrink technologies for jointing and repairing medium/high voltage cables up to 33kV – single core and 3 core cable joints kits are available for MV-HV cables with paper or polymeric insulation, copper wire or copper screen and armoured/unarmoured construction. The cable joints accommodate both shearbolt cable connectors or crimp connectors.
Essential to the safe and reliable performance of all MV HV Joints & Terminations is the standard of cable preparation achieved by the Jointer. Pictured here is an example of excellent workmanship where the XLPE and PILC cables are stripped and prepared ready for transition jointing in the cable trench.
