66kV 72.5kV Heat Shrink CABLE TERMINATIONS

Elcon Megarad’s high performance heat-shrinkable products offer a range of high voltage termination and electrical connection solutions on cable networks up to 66kV/72.5kV. The ELCOhiTERM TES 72 66kV 72.5kV High Voltage Cable Terminations are heat-shrinkable, Type-tested, in compliance with IEC 60840 standards, designed for fixed installations and suitable for the primary distribution of HV power. IEC 60840 cable termination are suitable for overhead lines and can be buried underground in cable trenches up to 72.5kV.

The electrical field stress control is achieved by means of the Elcon Megarad specially formulated high permittivity tape, and high performance heat-shrinkable tubes.

Elcon Megarad’s High Voltage Heat Shrink Cable Joints 66kV/72.5kV are available using their 66kV 72.5kV high voltage heat shrink technology to connect and terminate inline/straight high voltage cables in vertical or horizontal configuration. ELCOhiTERM TES 72 66kV 72.5kV High Voltage Cable Terminations are suitable for outdoor installations. Offering a maximum system voltage of up to 66kV/72.5kV and can be stored up to temperatures of + 50°C.

ELCOhiTERM TES 72/EW Series

♦ IEC 60840 specifies test methods and requirements for medium/high voltage power cable systems, cables alone and accessories alone, for fixed installations and for rated voltages above 30kV (U_m = 36kV) up to and including 150kV (U_m = 170kV). The requirements apply to MV HV single-core cables and to individually screened three-core cables and to their accessories for usual conditions of installation and operation, but not to special cables and their accessories, such as submarine cables, for which modifications to the standard tests may be necessary or special test conditions may need to be devised.

Heat Shrinking with High Voltage Terminations

When heat shrinking the tubes, use only a butane or propane gas torch. The cable Jointer must ensure the flame is soft, heat the tubes uniformly, move the flame all around the circumference of the tubes. Following with heat-shrinking from the tubes end, directing the flame slowly towards the opposite side. Finally, stop when the tube is completely shrunk.
