The Cembre B-TC400ND-SC is a new-generation portable battery powered hydraulic cable cutter developed for rapid cutting of copper, aluminium and telephone cables with a maximum outside diameter of 40mm. It forms part of the Cembre range of professional battery cable cutting tools supplied by Thorne & Derrick for cable installation, jointing and maintenance applications.

Its compact bi-linear tool structure combines an open cutting head with a scissor movement that allows the blades to close around the cable. The cutting blades are manufactured from specially treated high-strength steel, providing a clean, controlled cut and long operating life. The blade system is designed to provide up to 14,000 cutting cycles at full load.

The balanced tool design enables one-handed operation throughout the cutting process. A 180° rotating head allows the operator to position the cutting jaws around cables in pits, switchgear, panels and other locations where working space is restricted.

The hydraulic system incorporates a maximum pressure valve for controlled operation together with a radial bearing transmission. The robust construction is designed for low maintenance, while quiet cordless operation makes the B-TC400ND-SC suitable for repetitive professional cable cutting and quick intervention work.

Operation & Safety

The B-TC400ND-SC is designed for straightforward one-handed operation. Users should always follow Cembre’s operating instructions and the relevant site electrical safety procedures before using the tool.

Operation Stage Guidance
Cable Selection Confirm that the cable material, construction and outside diameter are suitable for the tool and do not exceed the 40mm cutting capacity.
Head Positioning Rotate the cutting head through the required position and place the open scissor head correctly around the cable.
Blade Alignment Ensure the cable is correctly positioned between the cutting blades before beginning the cutting cycle.
Cutting Operate the cordless hydraulic tool using the one-handed control while keeping hands clear of the cutting head and blades.
Pressure Control The maximum pressure valve provides pressure control during operation. Manual depressurising is available where required.
After Use Inspect the cutting blades and tool body, clean the tool as required and return the cutter, battery and accessories to the carrying case.
