The below video shows the Alroc CWF3/60 cable jointing tool used by MV-HV jointers to remove the outer sheath and insulation to prepare the cable for the installation of joints, terminations or connectors.

The Alroc CWF3/60 allows the jointer to remove the outer sheath (PE-PVC-PR) with a straight and neat cut and set the length to be removed and remove the insulation with a straight and neat cut of the power cable.

Cable preparation is essential to the performance and stability of MV-HV cable joints and terminations – if cables are prepared incorrectly using sub-standard tools or basic hand tools then the risk incidence of cable failure is increased.

The following instructions detail how to use the Alroc CWF3/60 insulation removal and stripping tool safely and effectively.

1. Alroc CWF3/60 Outer Diameter Capacity: 16mm to 58mm
2. Removal of the cable outer sheath or jacket
3. Fine adjustment of the pitch of the cable jointing tool
4. Setting up the pitch to 0° for a straight and neat edge of the outer sheath
5. Removal of the peelable semiconductor (non bonded) – CWF3/60 with SRC-W or CWF3/60 with SR-W)
6. SRC-W – Scoring stylus with chamfer on the transition & SR-W – Scoring stylus straight cut on the transition
7. The above have four scoring depth position 0.4mm / 0.7mm / 0.9mm / 1.1mm (easy to switch from one to the other)
8. Installation of the stylus Alroc SRC-W or SR-W on the CWF3/60 tool
9. Enables cable jointers to adjust the remaining length of peelable semiconductor according to the accessories requirement (junction, termination)
10. The Alroc DSP enable to lift and grab, easily the tip of the peelable semiconductor which has been previously scored
11. Removal of thecable  insulation using the ruler BR to preset the length of the insulation to be removed
12. Set the precise length of the insulation to be removed by the cable jointer
13. Fine tuning the insulation thickness that is set to be removed
14. Fine adjustment of the pitch of the cable jointing tool
15. Stop the cut by setting the pitch to 0°
16. Straight and neat cut the insulation on medium/high MV HV cables
17. Chamfer the tip of the insulation with Stylus SCH-D
18. Engaging the Stylus on the cable

The below video shows the Alroc CWB 18-60 cable tools are used by MV-HV jointers to remove the semi-con screen to prepare the cable ready for the installation of joints, terminations or connectors.

The CWB 18-60 cable jointing tool enables the jointer to easily remove the bonded semi-conductor with a chamfer on the transition, leaving a very smooth finish over the insulation prior to installing heat shrink/cold shrink joints, terminations or connectors onto MV HV cables – bonded conductor shields are semi-conducting thermosetting materials firmly bonded to the overlaying insulation.

The following instructions detail how to use the Alroc CWB 18-60 semicon insulation removal and stripping tool safely and effectively.

1. Set up the thrust on the cable jointing tool
2. Adjust the semicon cutback position on the MV HV cable
3. Screw back the blade to its maximum
4. Tighten the cable preparation tool
5. Screw down the blade until contact with bonded semicon is made
6. Line up the middle of the blade with the edge of the cable
7. Adjust the blade shaving depth (1 CLIC = 0.1mm)
8. Start bonded semicon removal
9. Readjusting blade shaving depth if necessary by the cable jointer
10. Rotate gently the jointing tool clockwise until it touches the thrust and until the chip breaks up
11. Screwing back the blade and loosen the jointing tool
12. Remove the chip after the cable tool withdrawal
13. Remove the thrust from the jointers tool

The below video shows the Alroc BSC-25-40 cable tools used by MV-HV jointers to remove the semi-con screen to prepare the cable ready for the installation of joints, terminations or connectors.

Cable preparation is essential to the performance and stability of MV-HV cable joints and terminations – if cables are prepared incorrectly using sub-standard tools or basic hand tools then the risk incidence of cable failure is increased.

The BSC-25-40 cable tools manufactured by Alroc enable the cable jointer to remove bonded semicon from MV cables and are predominantly used by MV-HV cable jointers.

The following instructions detail how to use the BSC-25-40 insulation removal and stripping tool safely and effectively.

1. Set up the handle of the Alroc BSC-25-40
2. Grease the cable by the cable jointer
3. Set up and tightening of the cable jointing tool on the MV cable
4. Loosen the blade, adjust it and then lock it
5. Start the bonded semicon removal 1/3 white (insulation) and 2/3 black (bonded semicon)
6. Wind the chip around the MV HV cable
7. Loosen the jointing tool to 25mm and 40mm
