Thorne & Derrick working alongside Pfisterer are delighted to announce the launch a new high quality and precision engineered Medium Voltage Cable Preparation Tool Kit for Jointers working on cables up to 33kV with primary insulation diameters at a maximum measurement of 60mm. The tools in the MV Jointers Kit cover all stages of cable preparation prior to the Jointing & Termination of cables; sheath removal, peeling of easy-strip semi conductive layer and insulation removal (XLPE EPR) with the additional option of fully bonded semi conductive layer shaving for cables 11kV-33kV.

The Ripley US10-7000 Tool provides a chamfer to the insulation on medium voltage power cables as part of the cable preparation for cable joint, splice, termination or elbow installation. The chamfering tool utilises a size adjustment clamping system to quickly and easily adjust and lock onto the insulation of the MV cable – the chamfering tool is compact, low friction, thermoplastic V-jaw construction and PTFE-coated aluminium frame provides a stable and precise clamping platform in confined space switchgear or jointing bays/trenches. 	The Alroc PG4HTA Cable Tools are used by MV-HV jointers to remove the outer sheath to prepare the cable for the installation of cable joints, terminations or separable connectors up to 33kV. The PG4 HTA from Alroc enables the Jointer to make a circular and longitudinal cut in order to remove the cables outer sheath or jacket. More about Alroc PG4HTA3033
Fiber Optic Kevlar® Scissors. Durable, lightweight and ergonomic scissors (shears) ideal for cutting Kevlar® strength fibers and aramid yarns, as well as other tough application materials including dyneema and synthetic cords. 	The Ripley US02-7000 Shaving Tool quickly and easily removes bonded semi-con from MV & HV power cables up to 33kV without the requirement for lubrication. The US02 tool provides an exceptionally smooth XLPE insulation surface finish and does not require lubricating grease as the integral wheels provide a sustained motion during the cable preparation process. The Alroc LH2 Stripping Tool is used by MV-HV Jointers to remove the XLPE insulation to prepare the cable ready for the installation of joints, terminations or inner or outer cone connectors. Cable Sanding Tool for Polishing High Voltage Insulation

Vicera cable sanding machine for high voltage cables is designed especially for cross-linked polyethylene (XLPE) and rubber (EPR) insulation sanding and polishing by the Cable Jointer – the sanding tool can used to smooth the transition of the insulation and semiconducting insulation screen. The cable tool sanding machine delivers the cable finish 10 times faster than by hands with improved surface smoothness.
