3M 96-EP720-2 cold shrink high voltage cable terminations are part of the 3M Electrical QTEN range of 66kV Cable Terminations – these termination kits have a voltage class of 72.5kV meeting and exceeding the requirements of the CENELEC HD 629.1 European standard as well as IEC 60840 Standards. The cable terminations are suitable for the Termination & Testing of dry, semi-wet and wet design 66kV inter array cables (IAC) with copper or aluminium conductors up to 1000sqmm.
96-EP720-2 QTEN Cold Shrink termination is supplied as a single phase kit, conductor contact needs to be ordered separately.

Conductors can be terminated using Pfisterer Sicon type mechanical shearbolt cable lugs which are approved and compatible with 3M Cold Shrink Terminations – cable lug designs including hexagonal, or deep indent crimping/compression are also accommodated.
- 96-AD632-1 (Joint) and 96-EP720-2 (Termination) are approved by UK DNO’s NPG and WPD.

The inner refractive stress control layer and the silicone insulation layer are co-extruded during the manufacturing process. The cold shrink termination is designed to accommodate all available cable lug designs including, hexagonal or deep indent crimp, as well as mechanical shearbolt type including Pfisterer Sicon brand.

66kV Lugs | Sicon cable lugs are short circuit tested for use on high voltage cables and networks up to 72kV and are electrically/mechanically type-tested in accordance with IEC 61238-1 class A.

CAMF4/40-90-BBCF are multi function cable jointing tools manufactured by Alroc and used by MV-HV jointers to remove the semi-con screen and XLPE insulation to prepare the cable ready for the installation of joints, terminations or connectors. The CAMF4/40-90-BBCF allows the user to remove the bonded semiconductor and remove the insulation from medium and high voltage cables.

Performance Tests
The 3M 96EP720-2 single core termination meets and exceeds the requirements of IEC standard 60840 04/2004. Refer to Test Reports 003257 & 2009-124.
3M 96EP720-2 Physical and Electrical Properties
3M QTEN Cold Shrink Termination kit can be used on cables with a rated operating temperature up to 105ËšC, and an emergency overload rating of 140ËšC. A termination constructed from this kit is rated for 72.5kV Umax and meets or exceeds the requirements of IEC 60840. The current rating of the cable termination meets or exceeds the current rating for the cables on which it is installed. BIL rating is 350kV.
