Thorne & Derrick International, based in the UK, stock and distribute the complete range of cable cleats and cable hangers manufactured by Ellis Patents including the Atlas range for short circuit retention and cable protection of LV (Low Voltage), MV (Medium Voltage) and HV (High Voltage) power cable systems in single-way or trefoil installation.

Ellis Patents Atlas Cable Cleats are galvanised or stainless steel single cable cleats for cable diameters ranging from 38-130mm for cable applications where the highest level of short circuit withstand and protection is required.

Atlas cable cleats are designed for rapid installation and offer the ultimate protection against the harshest environmental conditions and are available with a choice of one bolt, two bolt or framing channel fixing options.

All Atlas cable cleats are supplied with an M12 nut and locking nut, M12 washer and an M12 A2 stainless steel top bolt to eliminate eddy currents.

The cleat is also supplied with two M12 nuts, bolts and washers, for adjustment and two Atlas Stabilisers in Low Smoke & Fume Zero Halogen Nylon.

Single cable cleats are supplied with a Low Smoke & Fume Zero Halogen Polymeric washers for cleating 600V/1000V, 11kV, 33kV and 66kV cables.

International Standard IEC 61914:2009

Ellis Patent cable cleats with international specifications are used to clamp and retain LV MV HV cables including 11kV and 33kV networks depending on short-circuit calculations according to IEC61914 calculations.

Installing Cable Cleats

Installation instructions for single way cables using Alpha cleats manufactured by Ellis Patents:

Position the cable clamp and fixing (not supplied) onto the support structure Install Cable Locate the other half of the cable clamp Do not over tighten the cleat
1. Position the Atlas cable cleat and fixing (not supplied) onto the support structure. 2. Locate LV MV HV cable into cable cleat. 3. Locate the other half of the cable cleat. Secure with a nut and washer (not supplied) to the support structure and tighten the Ellis Atlas cable cleat. 4. IMPORTANT: Do not over tighten the cleat. The cleat should secure the cable but does not need to be so tight that the cable bulges at either side of the cleat.

WARNING – to prevent eddy currents and heating of the cable cleat the top tensioning bolt is made of stainless steel. Ensure that only this bolt is used and that bridging cannot take place. All Atlas cable cleats are supplied with two M12 nuts, bolts and washers.
