Voltage Detectors

Pfisterer KP-Test 5 is a capacitive voltage detector that can be used for both indoor and outdoor medium voltage switchgear and overhead line applications (MV). The voltage detector presents the operating voltage when brought into contact with the conductor.

The Pfisterer KP-Test 5 voltage detector provides a high level of user-friendliness and user safety – KP-Test 5 is designed and type tested to Standard IEC 61243-1.

Other versions of the MV medium voltage detector with deviating voltages, ranges of nominal voltages, frequencies and languages are available on request.

KP-Test 5 delivers reliable verdicts under any ambient conditions and thanks to its new surface layout the KP-Test is suitable for internal as well as open air applications.

KP-Test 5 instruments detect the following voltage classes: 3.3kV, 6.6kV, 11kV, 20kV, 33/36kV.

• Integrated audible signal for reliable voltage detection even in high noise environments such as medium/high voltage substations
• Suitable for outdoor use on overhead lines in harsh weather including rain and snow
• Extremely bright LEDs in clear visual layout to provide voltage detection without confusion
• Extensive self-test at switch-on of the detector (including contact electrode extension)
• Removable contact electrode top piece included as forked electrode
• Nominal frequency 50Hz, optional 60 Hz
• Length of insulating element when assembled is 520mm
• Diameter of insulating element when assembled is 24mm

♦ When using voltage detectors to establish presence of operating voltages on MV-HV power cables or overhead lines there may be a requirement to apply field equipment earths, portable earthing, to equipment which is working adjacent to Live conductors to discharge any induced voltages.
