Ripley US15-7000 | Cable Sheath Jacket Stripping Tool LV HV
US15 | Cable Sheath Jacket Stripping Tool
Ripley US15-7000 | Large Format Cable Slitter for Sheath & Jacket Stripping
Professional, Safe & Consistent Stripping of Cable Sheath Jackets from LV MV HV Cables | No Open Blades
Ripley US15 Cable Sheath Jacket Stripping Tool provides fast, safe, and precise cable sheath/jacket removal from both hard and soft insulated cables without damaging the underlying layers on LV MV HV (Low | Medium | High Voltage Cables).
The US15 tool manufactured by Ripley Tools is a versatile medium duty slitting tool, used primarily to assist in the removal of outer sheathing and primary insulation on LV-MV industrial power cables. The cable stripping tool is equipped with a hardened steel blade, and is capable of performing slit, ring, and spiral cuts on cable diameters from 10mm to 60mm.
The stripping tool will cut through many forms of insulated material such as PE, PVC, EPR, silicon rubber, EPDM, and TGGT. Ripley US15 Cable Sheath Jacket Stripping Tool is particularly useful on flexible conductor cables.
The US15 has a micro adjustable blade depth to avoid underlying cable damage. Ring, spiral, and longitudinal cuts can be accurately made by indexing the blade position. The high grade tool steel blade is also capable of slitting lead, Sealpic, and other thin metallic sheathing.
US15-7000 v US15-PRO
The US15 and US15 PRO Tools manufactured by Ripley are identical both in usage and practical application – the US15 has a moulded plastic v-jaw and is quick release. The US15 PRO is a machined aluminium v jaw and does not feature quick release as this improves rigidity and stability when stripping the cable jacket or sheath from LVMV HV cables.

Ripley US15 Operating Instructions
Set The Cutting Blade Depth Of The US15
Set an appropriate blade depth to score the jacket or insulation. For jackets with consistent thickness, set the blade depth 75-90% of the thickness. For irregular shape jackets, set the blade depth shy of the thinnest section to avoid cable damage. |

Ring Cut The Cable
Index the blade carriage to the ring cut position. The indicator line faces forward. Use the speed button to open the tool and close it at the score location. Snug the tool up with the tightening knob. Do not over tighten the tool on the cable. Rock the tool to feel the tension on the cable. Rotate counter clockwise to make a full ring cut.
|
Spiral & Longitudinal Cable Cut
Index the tool to a spiral or the longitudinal position, as desired. Rotate or pull the tool down the cable to score it. |

Cable Cutting Blade Replacement Instructions
- Turn the black blade adjusting knob counter clockwise fully for a 0 blade depth.
- Secure a section of scrap cable into the tool.
- Loosen the blade retaining screw with a 1/16 hex wrench and remove the blade from the collar.
- Insert a new blade through the collar with the flat facing the screw. Drop the blade so it is resting on the cable OD. Re-tighten the blade holding screw against the flat portion of the blade shaft.
- Re-adjust the blade to the desired depth setting.
Blade Alignment
The US15 tool is designed with a blade alignment feature to ensure the ring cut will track squarely. If misalignment is determined, turn the blade alignment adjusting screw with a 1/8” hex wrench in the correct direction to bring the tool back to a properly tracking ring cut.
