CMP have developed a new quad cable cleats range that have been designed, constructed, tested and third party certified in accordance with IEC 61914:2015.
Cable cleats within the quad range manufactured by CMP are designed for a variety of industries including the data centre, energy, utility and rail market where high performance and a compact design of cable cleat is critical for the retention of cables in quadrafoil formation in the event of a short circuit fault situation.
‘Saturn’ quad cable cleats are designed to safely restrain single cables in quad (or quadrafoil) formation without sustaining damage to the cables or cable management system in the event of short circuit fault conditions.
Single Cables In Quad Formation
For quadruplex cable, CMP has developed the QPSS cable cleat, with an integrated C-Clamp and bolt, which provides installers with versatility of installation.
The QPSS type of cable cleat has a high short circuit rating of 135kA and can be installed in a range of applications where quadruplex cable is utilised, including data centres.

HAZARDOUS AREA ZONES
Zone 1 – according to ATEX a place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of flammable substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is likely to occur in normal operation occasionally.
Zone 2 – according to ATEX a place in which an explosive atmosphere consisting of a mixture with air of flammable substances in the form of gas, vapour or mist is not likely to occur in normal operation but, if it does occur, persists for a short period only.
3M Scotchcast Hazardous Area joint kits include the new flame-retardant, hydrocarbon-resistant, halogen-free 1402FR resin packs.
3M Scotchcast Hazardous Area cable joint kits are designed for use with both single-core and multi-core armoured power cables up to 3.3kV – this new 3M product features a unique hinged mould body and totally enclosed mixing system which is suitable for use in areas of high soil contamination and ATEX rated hazardous areas.

High-performance 2-part polyurethane 1402FR hazardous area cable jointing resin
Suitable for use with wire armour (AWA and SWA) cables and wire braid (GSWB) cables
3M Electrical Cable Joints – for conductor jointing either Cembre (Crimp) or Pfisterer Sicon (Mechanical) style connectors can be used depending on application and Jointer preferences.
Although cable joints are not formally certified according to ATEX there are several minimum specification and performance requirements for cable joints when being used to connect, repair or joint cables in hazardous areas.
For example 3M LVI-3 type cable joints include specially formulated 3M Scotchcast 1402FR resin – this cable jointing resin is hydro carbon resistant, flame retardant, halogen free and chemical resistant for use in hazardous area locations.

Repair Sleeves For Cables
3M Wraparound Heat Shrink Cable Repair sleeves are designed to quickly repair damaged cable jacketing. They are also suitable for use with cable joints and as additional corrosion protection on undamaged cables in hazardous, harsh and extreme operating environments in underground or surface mining applications.
3M HDCW is made from modified cross-linked polyolefin with a hot-melt adhesive coated to the inner side of the sleeve. Upon heating, the sleeve shrinks and the adhesive melts, thereby achieving a safe and watertight bond between the sleeve and the cable.
A corrosion proof metal clip is then used to fully close the heat shrink sleeve.
3M HDCW wraparound heat shrink cable repair sleeves are designed to quickly repair damaged cable jacketing – they can also be used to rejacket in-line cable splices.
HDCW wrap sleeves can be used as insulation material on cable and splices up to 1000 volts and as jacket repair material on cable up to 35kV. 3M HDCW is made from modified cross-linked polyolefin with a hot-melt adhesive coated to the inner side of the sleeve.
The design of the heat shrink wrap style sleeve allows it to be installed in tight spaces with ordinary heating equipment such as a heat shrink torch.

Fire Resistant Armoured Power Cable For Essential Services
BS7846 fire resistant cable manufactured by Prysmian features a plain annealed stranded copper conductor, XLPE insulation, MICA fire resistant tape, polyester tape low smoke zero halogen bedding, fire barrier tape and black low smoke zero halogen outer sheath with a galvanised steel wired armour (SWA).
Low smoke zero halogen (LSZH) heat shrink cable joints with additional fireproof or fire resistant properties are available – typically used to connect, repair or joint Prysmian FP600S or Prysmian FP400 cables. The cable joints feature low smoke and corrosive gas emissions (LSOH) and are moisture resistant with LUL Approvals.
Manufactured to meet the following standards – circuit integrity: BS8519-2010 120 minutes/BS8491, acid gas emission to IEC 60754, BS EN 50267, flame propagation to IEC 60332-3, BS EN 50265, BS EN50266 and smoke emission to IEC 61034, BS EN 50268.
Cable Joints
SPS fireproof cable joints utilise LSF zero halogen heat shrink tubes and fire barrier tubes – the joints incorporate mica tape over each of the conductor cores. Micaca tape is a slit silica tape constructed from 96% pure silica fibre, coated one side with a pressure adhesive backing that facilitates installation of the joint kit.
